Star Wars Reads Day

Do you know about this day filled with awesome? If not, check out the official website: http://starwars.com/reads/. I got around to planning it too late this year (we were already having activities going on at the same time in the library), but next week, I want to rock this day.

Here's a search on Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=star%20wars%20crafts
That brought up Yoda Ears, Origami Yoda, Yoda Apple, Smarties Light Saber, and tons more ideas.

Have you done this program before? What did you do and was it a hit?

Technology in the Library

Kim and I are both on the NERTCL committee and we've been putting talking about Spring One Day conference. It's going to focus on technology in the library...which makes me curious. What sorts of technology are you using with kids or teens?

Summer Reading Programs

I'm over at my other blog today talking about my failures this summer in terms of programming. I wish I knew how to change it, because it's really depressing.

But, in order to stay positive, I'm asking about your Summer Reading Program success stories. What worked really well for you this year in terms of programming?

Summer Reading

I'm over at my blog today talking about Summer Reading.

That article with the Evil Librarian has been shared in the news so much, that I thought I would talk about how it worked at the library I work at. It's different - reading for prizes. I never did that as a kid. I read and filled out paperwork and had an ice cream sundae at the end of summer. And that was it. It was enough.

I don't mind handing out prizes because I think reading is important.  I know from experience that no prizes or not cool enough prizes doesn't entice teens in my library to read (or record) books.

What are your thoughts?

Movie News and Wishlist

After reading GreenBeanTeenQueen's movie news post this morning, it got me thinking about favorites books that I'd like to see as movies/TV shows.

I'd like to see:

What books would you like to see make it to the screen?
